Bloom Blocks 9 & 10, Gabriella's Bread

Wow, I can't believe that these last two weeks have flown by so quickly.  I thought I would have more to show but no such luck, life just got in the way and that's okay.

I do have Bloom Blocks 9 and 10 to show you, they are as follows.  I think that #9 has to be my favorite one so far with Block 2 a close second.

Bloom Block #10

Good Friday has always been a very special day in our family for many reasons.  I remember as a child that my maternal grandmother would always make a traditional meal and all of our aunts, uncle's and cousins would come, it was such a nice time.  As I got older I remember most of us cousins would take off of work just to make it to grandma's to enjoy her traditional meal and catch up with each other.  More years passed by and all of us cousins started taking our children to their great-grandma's for the same meal and to play with a new generation of cousins.  After grandma passed, my mom continued this tradition with our family, it is such a special time.  This year my mom was sick, so as the eldest of our family, I made the traditional dinner.  To the bottom right hand side of the picture you can see a plate full of "papitas" that Gabriella helped me make with her own little hands, she shaped them almost perfectly, the way my grandma taught me.  I have not yet learned to make the home made bread so I bought some baguettes and had my little Gabriella butter them.  We all laughed that we had bread with our butter, but it didn't matter as I was able to bring one more generation into the fold of making our traditional "Good Friday Meal".

By the way, the bread was delicious.

Below are a couple of other items that my Gabby helped me make!

The cake is our traditional "Carrot Cake" with cream cheese icing, just in a different shape than what we are use to seeing at the table.

We also had deviled eggs and we did a little something different with these, we actually colored the white part of the egg with food dyes before filling, they were delicious.  This might be a new tradition my Gabby and I start.

I don't have any Easter pictures of my little grand children as I had a migraine and missed out, but as soon as Alisha sends over some pictures from her phone I will show you how nice they looked in their Easter outfits.

You all have a wonderful week and remember to smile!!!

Bloom Block 8 & Quilty Zip Bag

Today I am going to show you my Bloom Block #8 and the Quilty Zip Bag from Lori Holt at Bee In My Bonnet.  First up is my Bloom Block #8, this one was my favorite so far until I saw Block #9 last night.  Well the next block is on it's background ready to be stitched down.  I am getting a little sad because next Monday will be block #10 and that means that we will be half way done, where did the time go?

Next up is my "Quilty Zip Bag.  Lori did a tutorial last Saturday (3/5/2016) on this cute little bag and I just had to make one.  I only had a mini charm pack of her fabric and didn't want to use any from the kit they sent me so I used a little of my stash fabric that I thought would go with the other fabrics.  This was so quick to make up and is now just sitting on the shelf looking pretty.

I don't have as much to show this week because everyone here at Little House of the Prairie's has gotten that nasty virus that has been going around, so not much of anything except taking care of the little ones.  I think we finally got over the hump and I started sewing again last night so there should be more to see next week.

I hope you all have a wonderful week! To those of you going to Tweeds, I hope to see you there on Thursday.

Bloom Block #7, Tweeds Finish & Splendid Sampler Blocks

Hello Ladies,
There hasn't been much sewing this last few day's as those pesky migraine's have come for a visit, but I think this last one is finally gone.  I didn't make the last Tweeds meeting but I did have a few items for show-n-tell.  The first two were my new patterns which you all got to see here on my new blog first.  The next is my project from the "Finish It" group at Tweeds, my number four was the "Great Pumpkin Harvest Table Runner".  The pattern is from Saginaw St Quilt Co, do you remember this Cindy?  It was started back around 2011 and I only had the background sewn down, the rest happened this last couple of weeks, but it is now done!!!

The next project was my Bloom Block #7 from Bee In My Bonnet.  This weekend Lori had a tutorial on how to make a little zipper bag, this lady makes the cutest stuff, I really enjoy her blog.

Last but not least is another new project, it is called Splendid Sampler.  Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson have put together this sew along.  Each Sunday and Thursday a new 6" block pattern is posted, I believe there are 82 designers who are producing new blocks with Pat and Jane and at the end of this sew along there will be a total of 100 blocks which will be made into a book some time in 2017.  Meanwhile we are getting these patterns free and can use any color choices we want, we can also choose which blocks to make.  Below are my first five blocks, these are also fun to make and I can't wait to see what the quilt will look like when it is done.  Heck with 100 blocks, I might get two quilts. If you would like to join in and sew a few blocks for yourself look up "Splendid Sampler".

I am also working on a couple more new patterns and as soon as they are done I will post them here for you to see first.

Thank you to the ladies who have e-mailed me and let me know what you are working on, I appreciate the feed back.  If you would like the pictures of your projects up, just send me the photos through e-mail and I will share your finishes with our friends.

Have a wonderful week!!!
